Breaking the Binary Theatre

Breaking the Binary Theatre is a theatre company by trans people for trans people, based in New York City. I previously did the branding for the company’s annual festival and they approached again me for a logo and wordmark that represented transness, fluidity, and community. Though the name is “Breaking” The Binary Theatre, the client wanted more for their visual message to that of reweaving what has been broken; they wanted the logo to have a sense of welcome while maintaining a professional air about it. I laced the T in BTB so that is completing its neighboring letterforms, to convey the concept of weaving two things together. The colors pink and light blue are those of the trans flag, and if you blended them into one you’d get the lavender shade we chose to be the primary color for the company’s branding.
